Obtaining the link for your file
The link for your file is shown in your ‘Existing Files’ section on your file manager page under the URL field:
The URL for each file cannot be edited.
To obtain the link, highlight it in the box and copy it to your computer’s clipboard. You can do this by pressing CTRL + C on a Windows computer or CMD + C on an Apple computer, or you can right click on it and select copy.
Creating the link
Next, navigate to the page editor (CMS) for the page where you want to place the link. The CMS will look similar to this:
Text
If you are linking to the file using text, first type the text you want the link to be. (e.g. 'Read the specifications here.')
Then highlight the text and click the link button on the page editor:
In the box that appears paste the link in the URL field:
If you want a new tab to open when the link is clicked tick the ‘Open in a new tab’ tick box:
Then click Insert and the text will become a clickable link to the file.
Image/Icon
If you are linking to the file using an image or your own icon (instead of a ready-made one) , you will first need to upload the image/icon into the page editor. To do this move your cursor to where you want the image to be, and click on the insert image button:
Then, drop your image in the box or click on the box to select the file from your computer’s hard drive:
The image will automatically load into your page editor.
Click on the image in the editor, and select the insert link option:
In the box that appears paste the link in the URL field:
If you want a new tab to open when the link is clicked tick the ‘Open in a new tab’ tick box:
Click Insert and the image will be linked to your file.
Finally, make sure to save your changes on the page you are editing.
