I've uploaded a favicon but it isn't displaying, why?
If your favicon isn't displaying then you'll first need to make sure that you have uploaded your favicon correctly. You might like to read through our article How to create and upload a favicon.
Unfortunately website browsers (like Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Safari) are particularly slow at updating favicons. So whilst you may have uploaded your favicon correctly it still might not be displaying when looking at your website. You may have to wait a couple of days for your website browser to start displaying the favicon to you - but for new visitors it will display immediately. This is because of something called 'cache' and is because your browser doesn't download all of the files of your website each time you visit it, instead it stores some of them on your computer (in a system known as cache).
The best way to check that your favicon has uploaded successfully is to use a favicon checker like http://seositecheckup.com/tool/favicon
Visit this site and enter your website's full URL (including HTTP) in the box
Click the 'Checkup' button.
You'll have to wait a few seconds for the system to check your favicon.
