Etsy

Warning!

Syncing stock between ShopWired and Etsy is currently not working. A fix for this bug is being worked on by our team.

Etsy is an online marketplace where you can sell handmade or vintage products. ShopWired’s Etsy app allows you to connect your Etsy and ShopWired accounts so you can import/export product listings and sync stock levels between your Etsy and ShopWired stores.

To connect your ShopWired and Etsy accounts you will need to install the Etsy app on your ShopWired account. To install the app select APPs > Available APPs from the menu. Find and select the Etsy app and select INSTALL THIS APP.

The app's functionality enables you to sync products between the two channels. So products created on ShopWired can be sent to also be listed on Etsy, or products created on Etsy can be imported across to ShopWired. Products that have been synced in this way are then 'linked', and stock will sync between the two channels in line with your settings.

Please note!

This app does not sync orders between the two channels, so orders will need to be managed on the channel they are received on.

Connecting your Etsy and ShopWired accounts

Once the app is installed you will need to connect your Etsy account by selecting APPs > Etsy from the menu. In the ‘Etsy Connection’ section select Connect Now:

Etsy’s sign in screen will then load in a new tab for you to sign in to your Etsy account. If you don’t have an Etsy account, you can register for one or use your Google, Facebook or Apple account to login.

Once you’ve logged into your account select Allow Access when Etsy asks if you want to connect the application to your Etsy account:

If you have already created an Etsy shop in your Etsy account, it will then be connected to your ShopWired store.

If you have not yet created an Etsy shop, the ‘Etsy Connection’ section will show that there is no shop connected:

Once you have created a shop select Update Shop, and the app will then connect your Etsy shop to your ShopWired account.

If at any point you no longer want your Etsy shop to be connected to your ShopWired account, select Disconnect.

Importing products

If you have products in your Etsy shop that you want to import to your ShopWired store, use the import feature of the app. Select import products in the ‘Stock Syncing’ section of the app:

A list of products from your Etsy shop will load on the next page. This could take a few moments to load if you have a high volume of products in your Etsy shop.

Use the filter in the top right corner to switch between seeing your active and draft Etsy listings:

If you have many pages of products, you can use the 'jump to' feature to move between pages. This can be found at the bottom of the import section:

Enter a page number in the box and select jump to page.

Place a tick in the box next to the products that you want to import to ShopWired. If you have already imported a product, the date of when it was imported will be listed instead of the selection box. If you want to import all products which haven’t been previously imported, place a tick in the box beside ‘Select’ at the top of table:

This will select all products on the current page. You can repeat this process for each page of products.

Once you have selected which products you want to import, select import at the bottom of the box. Your import will then begin processing, and you will receive an email once it is complete. Once the import is complete you should check your ShopWired account to ensure that the products have imported correctly.

Importing products can take some time so please be patient.

Reimporting deleted products

If you delete a product within your ShopWired account which was successfully imported from Etsy in a completed import, you will be able to reimport the product using the same method as described above.

If you delete a product within your ShopWired account which was imported from Etsy in an import which has not yet finished processing, but you want to try to import the product from Etsy again, then you will find that you cannot immediately select the product for import due to a message indicating that the product is still 'importing'. The 'importing' message will be replaced with the selection box after you either:
• Wait 24 hours from the time of the start of import
• Close all browser windows (Please note: this option will not work for all browsers)
or
• Clear your cache within your browser

Exporting products

If you have products in your ShopWired store that you want to export to your Etsy shop, use the export feature of the app. Select export products in the ‘Stock Syncing’ section of the app:

On the next page a list of products from your ShopWired store will be loaded. This could take a few moments to load if you have a high volume of products in your ShopWired store. From this list you can select which of your ShopWired products you want to export to Etsy.

Use the search box at the top of the section to search for a specifc product which you would like to export:

If you have many pages of products, you can use the 'jump to' feature to move between pages. This can be found at the bottom of the export section:

Enter a page number in the box and select jump to page.

Etsy requires product listings to contain certain information before they can be imported. You won't be able to export products which don't contain all of the required information, instead a 'no entry' symbol will be shown:

Click on the symbol to see what information the product is missing.

To add information to the product select Edit for the product:

A product editor will then load. The information which is required by Etsy is listed in the ‘Required Properties’ section of this page:

Some required product information cannot be altered on this page, and if you need to change it you should do so in ShopWired’s normal product editor instead. This includes the product title, description, price (which must be above $0.30) and stock level (which needs to be above 0).

Once you have finished editing the product select Save.

Then, if you have filled in all of the required information, you will be able to place a tick in the box to indicate you want to export that product to Etsy. To select all eligible products on a page place a tick in the box at the top of the column:

Once you have selected all of the products you want to export select export selected products to Etsy.

Alternatively, you can choose to export all eligible products from all pages, without the need to manually select every product. To do this select export all eligible products to Etsy:

Once your export is complete you will receive an email. You should then check your Etsy shop to ensure that the products have exported correctly.

Syncing existing products

If you have products which already exist on both Etsy and ShopWired, you can connect them by selecting sync existing products in the 'Stock Syncing' section:

In order for connecting the products to work the product must have the same SKU code on both Etsy and ShopWired.

Allow the app to sync the products. Once the sync is finished, you will see a completion message, and stock will sync between the products in line with your stock syncing settings.

Stock syncing

If you choose to enable the feature, the Etsy app allows for the sync of stock between your ShopWired and Etsy accounts. Use the drop-down under ‘Stock Sync Mode’ to disable stock sync or to choose if you want stock to be synced from Etsy to ShopWired or from ShopWired to Etsy:

Etsy to ShopWired sync

If you choose for stock to be synced from Etsy to ShopWired, then the app will send stock information from Etsy to ShopWired every 15 minutes. If you need to make any manual adjustments to your products’ stock levels, you should make these adjustments within your Etsy account. If an order is placed within your ShopWired account, stock levels will also be updated on Etsy.

ShopWired to Etsy sync

If you choose for stock to be synced from ShopWired to Etsy, then the app will send stock information from ShopWired to Etsy immediately when it detects a change. If you need to make any manual adjustments to your products’ stock levels, you should make these adjustments within your ShopWired account.

Where an order is received on Etsy for a linked product on ShopWired, ShopWired does not receive an immediate update from Etsy to adjust the stock levels. ShopWired checks for new Etsy orders every 15 minutes and updates the stock levels on ShopWired accordingly.

Frequently asked questions

If I delete a product on ShopWired will the listing be deleted on Etsy?

No. If you want to remove a listing from Etsy you will need to delete it on your Etsy account. Similarly, deleting a listing on Etsy will not remove it from your ShopWired account.

Why do products with variations need a SKU code before exporting to Etsy?

On ShopWired, if a product has variations (for which you are controlling stock) it doesn't need a SKU code, but on Etsy it does. You'll therefore need to add a SKU code for products with variations before you can list the item on Etsy.

When listing a product from ShopWired to Etsy, is the product made active immediately on Etsy?

When you send a listing from ShopWired to Etsy, ShopWired creates the listing as a draft, so you can then publish it on Etsy.
