Categories
Unfortunately BluePark does not provide an export for categories.
When you import your products from BluePark into ShopWired we will however automatically create ShopWired categories based on the Category name included in the BluePark product export.
Amending the ShopWired created categories
Category structure
First you'll need to decide on your category structure. On ShopWired you can create parent and subcategories so that your product catalogue is organised with a structure.
This can be particularly useful if you have more than around 20 categories.
The process involves creating parent categories and then editing the categories created by the product import to assign them to the parent categories you have created.
You can read more details about category structures here.
You can find out about how to assign a category to a parent category here.
Category details
Once you've organised your categories into a parent/subcategory relationship (if you've chosen to do so), you should then consider uploading an image and description for each category.
You can check your theme's help guide to find out our recommended image sizes although it's important to remember that it is better to adjust a theme to suit the images that you have rather than adjust your images to suit your theme.
Consult our guidance on themes and images, or you can contact us for assistance on changing your theme to better display your category images.
You can find out more about how to upload images and descriptions for your categories here.
Creating new categories
You may find that the categories created by ShopWired are not sufficient for your needs and therefore want to create new categories and assign your products to them.
If you have a large number of products (e.g. over 500) we'd recommend that you assign products to categories using our import system.
First, you should create the categories manually through the admin system (after working our your new category structure).
Next, you can export the products from your ShopWired account and assign the categories to the products on a spreadsheet. You then just have to save the new spreadsheet and upload it to your ShopWired account.
Once you've uploaded the updated product data, check your website to make sure it has worked as expected and contact us if you need any assistance.
Read this guide for more information on how to update products using the import system.
