Rounding discrepancies detected

When a discount is applied to an order (e.g. a voucher code, a special offer, a trade discount) the discount is 'injected' into the price of the product at checkout. This means, rather than the discount affecting the order total, the discount affects the price of the products it applies to.

Sometimes, a discount might introduce a rounding 'problem' into an order. For example, applying a 10% discount to a product costing $3.95 equates to a discount of $0.395, which is then rounded up to $0.40 resulting in a product price of $3.55.

Discounts are injected into a single unit of a line item. If a customer orders a multiple quantity of a product costing $3.95 (e.g. 10 units) then the total discount given will be $4.00 and the resulting line total would be $35.50.

The original line total for the product should be $39.50 and a 10% discount would be $3.95, giving a total of $35.55. Because, on ShopWired, the discount is applied to a single unit the total discount is $4.00 (which equates to an effective discount just over 10%).

Where ShopWired detects a potential discrepancy between the actual discount applied and the discount intended, we'll show a warning on the order page within your ShopWired account to let you know.

ShopWired is currently working on improving the discounts system so that discounts awarded are as close as possible to the discount intended by you when it was created.
