Visitor statistics report
Through the ‘Visitor Statistics’ report in your ShopWired account you can view basic visitor statistics about users who visit your website.
Helpful tip!
In addition to using our visitors report, we strongly recommend that you set up more detailed visitor tracking by using Google Analytics. Google Analytics is free and can be easily used on your website by following the instructions found here.
The visitor statistics report can be viewed by selecting Visitors from the list of available reports.
from the menu then selectingAlternatively, the report can also be accessed from the dashboard by selecting view report in the ‘Yesterday’s Visitors’ box:
The ‘Yesterday’s Visitors’ box on the dashboard gives you a quick view of how many unique visitors your site received on the previous day.
For the visitor statistics report you can choose to view your website’s statistics over a number of different time periods. The earliest statistics you will be able to view will be for the entire month prior to the current month. Any statistics before then are not available to view.
Please note!
If you are also using Google Analytics (or any other visitor tracking service), the statistics in their reports may differ to the statistics that you see in the ShopWired report due to differences in the way the data is accumulated.
Below is an explanation of each aspect of the visitor statistics report.
• Visitors, visits and page views
• Conversion statistics
• Quick view order statistics
• Product statistics
Visitors, visits and page views
The first three sections display charts containing data about the unique visitors, visits and page views for the selected time period.
Unique visitors
A unique visitor is a distinct visitor to your website who can make multiple visits and view multiple pages, but would still only be counted once in this chart. Visitors are tracked using a cookie which is placed in their browser. If the user visits your website after the cookie has expired, after they have deleted the cookie from their browser or from a different browser entirely, then they will again be marked as a unique visitor.
Visits
A visit is one complete browsing session performed by a visitor. A browsing session begins when a visitor lands on your website and ends when a period of about 1 hour has passed since the visitor last interacted with your website. For example, if a user landed on your home page at 10:43 and browsed your website until 10:54, and then stopped interacting with your website until 11:54, their browsing session would then end, and 1 visit would be recorded by the system. If a user landed on your home page at 10:43, browsed until 10:54, went away for 50 minutes but started browsing again at 11:44, then the hour would reset and the session would not yet have ended.
The data for a visit will not appear in the visitor report until after the session has ended even if an order is made.
Typically, your website will receive more visits than unique visitors because each unique visitor can create multiple visits over multiple days.
Page views
The page views chart displays the total number of times all pages were viewed by all visitors. A page view will be counted each time a visitor views a page. If one visitor views a page and then refreshes that page, then that would count as two separate page views.
Conversion statistics
In the ‘Conversions’ section you will see some basic percentages for the conversion process based on the visitors you have received:
You will see:
- What percentage of visitors added a product to their basket
- What percentage of visitors then viewed the basket page
- What percentage of visitors then went to checkout
- What percentage of visitors completed a purchase
These statistics can be used to see where in the conversion process you are losing the most customers.
Quick view order statistics
In the ‘Quick View’ section you will see the number of orders that were placed and the total order amount for the selected time period:
Product statistics
The visitors report also shows you some basic statistics about which of your products were viewed the most and which were purchased the most in the selected time period:
