I've created my variants for a product, but they can't be selected on the product on my website, why not?

Here are a few of the most common reasons why a variant might not be selectable on your product page.

Please take a look through the list, and contact us if you still need any assistance.

1. The user skipped making a selection from the first drop-down

If a product page contains more than one drop-down, due to having multiple variation options configured (as shown in the example below), the user won't be able to select anything from the second (or subsequent) drop-down before they have selected from the first. This is normal and is how the system is designed to work.

2. You have configured the same variation twice

In the example below you can see that the same variation (Large/Blue) has been configured twice:

This can cause the system to not work correctly, so make sure you haven't configured multiples of the same variation.

3. Your variations have become corrupted for some other reason

This is unlikely, but if the problem isn't being caused by points 1 and 2 above, it is possible that your variants on the product have become corrupted in some way. The best option would be to start again.

You can either delete the product and create it again from scratch or just delete and recreate the variations on the product.

To just start again with the variations select the 'delete' icons beside each variant option that you have created (as indicated on the screenshot below), save the product and then create the variations again.

We can help!

If you continue to experience difficulties in getting your variations to work properly then please contact us. When sending your message, please let us know the name of the product that isn't working.
