What size image should I upload for my product?
Its not so much the size of an image that matters, but rather the aspect ratio of an image.
The aspect ratio of an image is the ratio of the width:height. For example an image with an aspect ratio of 1:1 is square (width=height). An image with an aspect ratio of 2:1 is landscape (width is twice as big as its height) and similarly 1:2 means a portrait image.

Version 2 and earlier themes
The aspect ratio of your product (and category) images on your website's theme can be found in the theme notes.
We have also included, in the theme notes, the maximum size that your product images are displayed at (on the product page) for your reference.
You should always try to upload an image that is at least this size, but don't worry if its not this big as our system will still display it nicely. However if you do want to utilise an image zoom effect then you should upload a bigger image than this size.
Version 3 and later themes
If you are using a version 3 or later theme (themes installed on or after 27th September 2020) navigate to the help guide for your theme. The help guide will advise on the different aspect ratios/recommended sizes for the images on your theme.
