My product import is telling me there are errors, what does this mean?
In order to prevent a 'bad' import, our system automatically checks your import file when you upload it to make sure that there aren't any errors.
If you are shown errors when conducting an import then you'll need to fix these in your import file before trying again.
Here's an explanation of some of the most common errors:
Incorrect Column Headings
In order to work, the column headings used in your import file need to be exactly the same column headings that we require. These are included in the import template (which you can download on the product import/export page). They are also listed on this page.
File Type Is Incorrect
The import file must be a CSV file.
Invalid Product URLs
Product URLs can only contain numbers, letters and the - or _ symbol. No other characters are allowed.
Invalid Images
The image file name columns should only contain references to image files that are either JPG, JPEG, PNG or GIF. We can't accept any other type of image files.
Variant Errors
This is one of the most common errors. You'll need to make sure that all of your variants are configured correctly in the import file in accordance with the guidance here.
