UK2.net - DNS instructions

Warning!

The instructions below are intended as a guide only.

Please make sure that you only have 1 A record for '@' (or blank) and 1 CNAME record for 'www'. If you have an A record for 'www' you should delete it.

Step 1. Login to your UK2.net account and click on the domain name you'd like to configure.

2. From the top menu click 'DNS'.

3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click 'show advanced DNS options'

4. Look for an existing A Record which has a Host of where your domain name is shown (without any www or other subdomain). If there is one, click to edit it. If there isn't go to step 6.

5. You should change the Points To value to be 54.247.109.89.

You should select 1 Minute from the TTL selection.


Once you've finished and the record looks like the above click 'save'.

6. Only follow this step if there isn't already an A Record. Go to the bottom of the records and click the 'add new A record' button.

Enter the values as follows

Type A
Host [enter your domain name here without any www]
Points To 54.247.109.89

You should select 1 Minute from the TTL selection.As shown in the example below.

Click the 'save' button.

7. Look for an existing CNAME Record where the Name is your domain name including www. If there is one, click to edit it. If there isn't, go to step 9.

8. You should change the Points To value to be ecommercedns.uk.

You should select 1 Minute from the TTL selection.

Once you've finished and the record looks like the above click 'save'.

9. Only follow this step if there isn't already a CNAME Record. Go to the bottom of the records and click the 'add new CNAME record' button.

Enter the values as follows

Type CNAME
Host [enter your domain name here with www]
Points To ecommercedns.uk

You should select 1 Minute from the TTL selection. As shown in the example below.

Click the 'save' button.


The above two records will point your website's DNS records at our servers to show your website at your domain name.

Addition of the next two DNS records is not mandatory but is necessary in order to verify your sending emails.

DKIM

10. Go to the bottom of the TXT records and click the 'add new TXT record' button.

Enter the values as follows

Type TXT
Host mandrill._domainkey.domainname.co.uk - replace domainname.co.uk with your actual domain
Points To v=DKIM1; k=rsa; p=MIGfMA0GCSqGSIb3DQEBAQUAA4GNADCBiQKBgQCrLHiExVd55zd/IQ/J/mRwSRMAocV/hMB3jXwaHH36d9NaVynQFYV8NaWi69c1veUtRzGt7yAioXqLj7Z4TeEUoOLgrKsn8YnckGs9i3B3tVFB+Ch/4mPhXWiNfNdynHWBcPcbJ8kjEQ2U8y78dHZj1YeRXXVvWob2OaKynO8/lQIDAQAB;

You should select 1 Minute from the TTL selection. As shown in the example below.

Click the 'save' button.


SPF

You may already have an SPF record present, if you do you'll need to edit the existing one (step 11). If you don't have an SPF record you'll need to create a new one (step 12).

An existing SPF record will start with some text like v=spf1...

11. If you have an existing SPF record you should click to edit it.

In the TXT Value field you need to add in the text include:spf.mandrillapp.com to appear directly after the text v=spf1, e.g.

v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com ?all

becomes

v=spf1 include:spf.mandrillapp.com include:spf.protection.outlook.com ?all

You should select 1 Minute from the TTL selection. As shown in the example below.

Click to save your changes.

12. If you do not have an existing SPF record click to add a new DNS record.

Enter the values as follows

Type TXT
Host [enter your domain name here without any www]
Points To v=spf1 include:spf.mandrillapp.com ?all

You should select 1 Minute from the TTL selection. As shown in the example below.

Click the 'save' button.


Update times

Once you've changed the DNS on your domain name please allow a couple of hours for the changes to propagate (be distributed around the internet).

If your website isn't showing live after 24 hours you may have incorrectly setup the DNS records, please contact us for assistance.
