What is Revolut?

Revolut is a one-stop shop for all things business. Your Revolut Business account can be used to both manage the funds for your business and also accept payments using multiple methods and currencies. Integrating your ShopWired account with the Revolut payment gateway is a seamless way for you to manage your money, exchange currencies at great rates, track expenses, accept payments, use company cards to make purchases and more all in one place.

With Revolut you won’t need to have separate providers for your bank account, expenses tracker and payment gateway as you can manage all of this from one account. You can get all of these features and many more with a free plan and no monthly fees!


Opening a Revolut account

If you don't have a Revolut Business account

If you don’t already have a Revolut Business account, click here to open one.

In order to open a Revolut Business account your business must have a registration number and operate as a legal entity or you must be a self-employed freelancer who operates as a sole trader under your own name. If your business is unregistered, you will need to register it before beginning the process.

When opening a Revolut Business account you will be asked a number of questions about your business. When asked for the reason that you are opening the account, select ‘Receive payments from customers’ as one of the reasons. Additionally, you will need to provide information about your country and address of registration, who leads and who owns your business, a description of your business, what category your business can most closely be associated with and the domain name for the website for your business.


If you already have a Revolut Business account but no active merchant account

To activate the merchant account side of your Revolut account navigate to the ‘Home’ section of the Revolut Business web portal and open the ‘Merchant’ tab. Select Get started and follow the steps to fill in your business information, including the domain name for your website.


Enabling Revolut in ShopWired

To enable Revolut in ShopWired you need to enter the API key from your Revolut account into your ShopWired account by following these steps:


  1. Login to your Revolut Business account.
  2. In the top left corner select your account name and click Merchant API.
  3. In the ‘Production API Key’ section you will find your API key. If you have not generated an API key before, select Generate to create your unique API key. Then copy the API key to your computer's clipboard.
  4. Return to your ShopWired account and select Checkout > Payment Gateway from the menu.
  5. In the 'Other Payment Gateways' section select Revolut from the list under 'Payment Gateway'.
  6. In the Revolut section that appears paste your API key from your Revolut account and save your changes.

Please note!

If at any point you select to generate your Revolut API key again, your accounts will no longer be connected until you enter the new API key in your ShopWired account.
