Customisation fields

The customisation fields feature allows you to determine on each product if you want your customers to be able to enter text to go with the product. This is useful if you have customisable products (such as a T-shirt or a mug that they can have text printed on) or if you want them to be able to include a gift message:

You can add as many fields as you would like, and you can specify whatever label you would like for each text field. You can also choose what type of text field you want it to be (whether it be 1 line or multiple) and if you want to limit the number of characters your customer can input.

• Customisation fields on the product import/export system

Changing settings

To allow for customisation fields you will need to change your product settings. To do this select Settings > Products from the menu.

Find the setting that asks about customisation fields, as shown below:

Change the setting to ‘Yes’ and select save changes.

Adding a customisation field

To add a customisation field to a product use the section named ‘Customisation Fields’ when creating or editing a product:

Input what you want the label to be for the field, the type of field (meaning if you want it to be 1 line or multiple lines) and, if you want to, set a limit for the number of characters a customer can input in the field.

To add multiple fields select + add another as many times as you need.

When you have finished adding fields select save changes or save + close to complete the process.

Any text the customer enters will be on the confirmation email sent to both you and them.

Customisation fields on the product import/export system

In the spreadsheets for importing and exporting product data there are columns for customisation fields. You can use them to update or create these fields on new or existing products. Click here to learn more about the import/export system for products.

The following columns are available on the spreadsheet:

Customisation Field Label
In this column enter the label you want the field to have.

Customisation Field Type
In this column enter the type of field. Enter this as either 1 Line Field or Text Area.

Customisation Field Max Length
In this column enter the maximum number of characters the customer is allowed to enter in the field. If you do not want to place a maximum then leave this column blank.

If you are entering multiple customisation fields for a product, enter them on one line but separate them with a comma, as shown below:
